Welcome To Jagiroad College
Welcome to the department of Assamese. Keeping good education as the topmost priority the department of Assamese Jagiroad college was founded in the year 1979 along with the establishment of the institution itself. Providing bachelor degree honours course for the students from that very year the department also made degree regular and higher secondary courses available to the students. Since then no looking back the department has attained certain heights of fulfillment of students desires in every possible way. At present the department has a strength of all total five highly energetic faculty members with Ms Adity Das Baruah (M.Phil), Associate Professor as HOD and Dr. Habibur Rahman, Associate Professor ; Dr. Mira Baishya, Assistant Professor ; Dr. Gargi Phukon, Assistant Professor and Ms Dixita Sharma (M.Phil). The department of Assamese has 121 honours students at present and almost 500 students in regular courses. This department is always holding a very strong, positive, comfortable and friendly relationship with their students whose collective work has made it possible in publishing the yearly departmental magazine named 'Koroni' since 2012 with ISSN no. Apart from the library of the institution the department of Assamese also has a small departmental library with almost 600 books at present of various renowned writers which are mostly course oriented reference books. With an intention to development of the skills of students the department also organises certain extra curricular activities like extempore speech, poetry recitation etc from time to time. Every year almost 8 to 14 students are securing 1st class from the department of Assamese of Jagiroad college.Adding further this department is not only for students with excellence , we welcome our students with their pros and cons and we try to help them to show the right path of success.
