Welcome To Jagiroad College
Jagiroad College offers adequate and updated infrastructure for all internal stakeholders. The College houses three beautiful classroom blocks for students of Arts stream. Two of them are christened as the Kalong and Kapili Blocks after the two perennially flowing tributaries of the Brahmaputra. The third one (proposed as Pobitora Block) has been newly set up by the side of the Central Library from the Assam Govt grant. It is conveniently situated along with the four academic departments, viz. English, History, Political Science and Economics. Tourism and Computer departments are accommodated in the building constructed under Buniyad Scheme of govt. of Assam. Ethnic museum existed in the first floor of this building is now renovated with installation of some new additional items with minor renovations/repair of earlier items.
The Kiling Block houses the distinctively updated laboratories, class-rooms and departmental common rooms of teachers of the Science Stream. The Mayang Block houses the IGNOU study Centre and classrooms for Major subjects. The Commerce Block facilitates the Class rooms for the Teachers and Students of the Commerce Stream. A multi-storied building has also come up, commonly known as the Maths-Geo Building (proposed as Sonaikuchi Block), to cater to the growing needs of the Mathematics, Geography and Acting departments. This Block also facilitates the Laboratory for the Pulp and Paper Technology programme. Construction and renovation works are also going on to facilitate class rooms for Retail Management and Acting courses under B. Voc. scheme.
Boys’ Common Room, Gym and NCC offices are also there in the College. Dr. Subhas Saha Memorial Block accommodates common rooms of a few Arts stream departments.
Two floors have newly been constructed from GDA grants of UGC to facilitate class rooms for Community College courses as well as other subjects. This block is attached with the present Auditorium of the College (proposed as Baliram Das Block). A beautifully decorated and well furnished Seminar Hall is constructed on the top floor in the same building for in-house regular and occasional meetings and similar activities. Education department is shifted to this building from the Dr. Subhas Saha Block and a separate room is allotted for their laboratory activities.
Commerce Stream is located at the block which was earlier constructed for Girls Hostel. This block covers Commerce Stream as well as Fashion Technology Lab cum workshop. Women Hostel was constructed from UGC grant and Girls were shifted to this three storied building block (named as Swapna Mazika Hostel) Later it was utilized for Boys’ Hostel. Boys’ Hostel was constructed from UGC grant and named as Jonebeel Boys Hostel.
