Community College:

Introduction:

Present scenario of higher education is changing day by day. To cope with the global emerging trend in the development of skills, a new scheme was launched by the UGC under National Skill Qualification Frameworks (NSQF) guidelines. Under such a context, UGC invited proposals from 2(f) 12(B) Colleges to run Community Colleges. In these programs the intending learners are recognized with the award of Certificate, Diploma or Advance Diploma on the basis of successful completion of assigned semesters and evaluation processes laid down by the approving authority. Jagiroad College is approved and financed by UGC leading to advance diploma in two proposed schemes. The courses are:
1. Pulp and Paper Technology (PPT)
2.Fashion Designing(FT)

Objectives:The main objectives are:

1. To uplift higher education through recognition or development of relevant skills of the learner and hence the community.
2. To make the learners - who are dropouts/ not intending to pursue higher education-competent with a skill as per the international standard.
3. To provide employable and certifiable skills with necessary general education to senior secondary school pass outs not willing to pursue regular courses of existing higher education system.
4. To provide job on the basis of general interest to the community for personal development and interest.
5. The Community College Scheme is limited to the recognition of the skills offered by the learners to the Advance Diploma Level only.

Eligibility:

The minimum educational qualification assigned for admission into Community College is +2 Pass or equivalent from any stream under recognized board / university/vocational schemes. For PPT candidates from HS (Science)background is preferred. There is no upper age bar for admission. The learners living in the local community are preferred for admission along with those from other parts of the nation.
Scholarship: The admitted students to the Community College Courses are eligible for the receipt of monthly scholarship of Rs. 1000/- on the basis of regular attendance and successful completion of semester examinations.
